2011 Resolutions? Nah. 2011 Words? Much Better.

I may be a few days late on this, but I have a feeling New Years Resolutions are still being talked about.

It's been years since I've made resolutions.  I don't know about you, but when it comes to resolutions, I always seem to fail at them.  And with each fail, comes feelings of guilt, I'm not good enough, and I can never finish any new years goals. Uh, yeah, totally NOT fun.

Instead of beating myself each year for not sticking to my resolution commitment, I've decided to start 2011 a new way. A fresh way.  A feel good way.  A way that has me focusing on my inner self (rather than my external self, i.e. 'gotta go to the gym, 'gotta eat certain foods, 'gotta cut out certain foods, 'gotta do this,  'gotta do that!).

You see, for me, it all comes down to how I want to FEEL inside. Yes, working out, eating healthy foods, cutting out foods that are labeled BAD (um, did I just say that?  I SO don't agree with labels!), running around here and there can definitely bring on some feel good vibes, but if my inner world is a mess, my resolutions won't stick around long.

This year, there's been so much talk going on about a WORD for 2011 in the bloggity world. I can't even tell you how much I L-O-V-E this idea.  SO cool and SO fun!

This year I'm going with the 2011 WORD flow. But, I'm not just picking one word.  I actually have two words that really stick out to me and relate to how I want to FEEL inside and which will blossom on the outside in so many amazing ways.

So, drumroll please (badabadabadabadabadabadabadabdabadabadaBAAAAAAA)...

My two words are...

CREATIVE is something I've been reconnecting with (oh yes, I'm relighting my inner creative child spark again!) since I was pregnant with C. Something CREATIVE  has been stirring inside of me for quite some time now and it's VERY ready to come out and play.

I'm finally starting to listen. I've been drawing and coloring in an art journal.  I've been painting. I've been attached to my camera. And, I've been writing again (my Journalism degree would be so proud!).  My inner creative child is SO excited to be out and about again.  It has been years since we've connected and I couldn't be more thrilled.

I've also had a calling to color my nutrition business with lots of CREATIVE flair. I can't even tell you how excited I am about this.  I have so much good stuff coming up this year (more to come soon on this!) and I can't wait to shout it out from the rooftops (is that even the right phrase? Ha!).

But yes, I have the CREATIVE itch and I can't wait to dive head on into it. As DJ Pauly D from Jersey Shore says...OH YEAH!! (Um, yes, I'm a Jersey Shore lover. Don't hate. :) )

My second word, NURTURE, is a word that needs to be felt in my life this year. If I'm not nurturing myself, then I can't nurture anyone or anything else in my life (which I totally learned while being a single mommy for 10 weeks!).  NURTURE will be my major theme, in ALL areas of my life, this year!

I will NURTURE my mind with loving thoughts. I will NURTURE my body with loving thoughts. I will NURTURE my business by gaining more clarity and giving it the attention that it deserves. I will NURTURE my dreams by visioning them, drawing them, manifesting them. I will NURTURE my meditation practice by being still for at least 5 minutes a day. I will NURTURE my food by creating all meals with love. I will NURTURE my photography by carving out a special time in the day to focus only on capturing the beauty around me . I will NURTURE my daughter, my doggie and my husband by getting rest and recharging myself so I can be there for them 100%. I will NURTURE positivity in my life by surrounding myself with people, books, television shows, articles and movies that fill me up with joy, laughter and love. I will NURTURE play time by taking time out to get out of the house, go on a field trip, play with my daughter, sight-see, hang with friends, color in a kids coloring book and do something new. I will NURTURE my time in nature by stopping, observing, breathing in the fresh air and walking slowly to soak it all in.

And, SO MUCH MORE!  It really could fill an entire book.

This year, in order for me to feel GOOD on the inside, I need to NURTURE every petal on my flower and I need to COLOR each petal with as much CREATIVITY as possible. A little color goes a long way and is sure to brighten my smile...even when times get tough.

I'm THRILLED to see one of my favorite artists display my two words perfectly! This is exactly what I'll be doing all of 2011 and beyond.  Lori Portka, you're truly amazing!

I definitely need her painting I posted above on my office wall (yes, I'm going to have my own Lori Portka inspirational shrine! OH YEAH!!) for daily inspiration and daily connection to my 2011 words.

I'm also going to get artsy and create my own fun vision that will display my two words that I'll hang up in my inspirational shrine. OH YEAH!! :)

I will post my final product here on the blog, so stay tuned for that.

So, here's to a FULLY BLOSSOMED COLORFUL 2011.  May all your petals sparkle brightly and FEEL divine.  Cheers!
