Day 8: Cravin' Swirls

Yeah...yesterday.  No doodles for me.  And, yes, I'm OK with that! :)

Life got in the way - well, actually, during C's nap I had an intense craving to get on my treadmill for 15 minutes.  Say wha???

I haven't been on it in SO long.  It's way more difficult to find the time to get on it when I have a 2-year-old running around the house.

Well, getting on it, was actually heaven.  I couldn't believe it, because, honestly, I'd much rather BE outside instead of feeling like a hamster on a wheel looking at a wall and red numbers telling me how much time has gone by.

I realized that the reason why it was heaven was because it's been a LONG time since I've worked out ALONE!  

I usually dance with C and Rusty is usually following her around and then she's dancing around me and I'm making sure that I don't run into her - yeah, multi-tasking city!! 

So this time, Rusty was laying down nowhere NEAR me and C was fast asleep.  HEAVEN!!!

I had NOTHING to think about and ended up having the most feel-good-time listening to my music.

Then I took a shower and got C and I ready to meet D out on the town for the last little music and food festival for the fall season that's right across the street from his work.

SOOOOO...yeah, I didn't doodle.

But, today, I did!


I'm in mid-doodle, so I thought I'd show ya. :)

When I sat down, again, I wasn't sure what I wanted to doodle, so I did a check-in with myself and connected with the FEELING of what doodle wants to be drawn to help create calm in my mama life at that moment.

I FELT an urge for curvy and swirly lines.

So with my FEELING, I ended up doodling swirls.

I thought I'd play with some color...color that FEELS calming to me right now; ocean blue, purplish-pink and greens.

So far, I'm diggin' it...and mostly, what I'm diggin' is how I sat in silence and just focused on the colors.

I absolutely LOVE being taken out of my head and into the colors on the page.  My mind always let's out a refreshing, ahhhhhhhhhhh, no matter how little time I have to doodle. :)

So, as you can see, I'm not finished.

I can't wait to see what it looks like completed.  That always makes me smile! :) 

But, I just wanted to show you that I don't always complete doodles when I start them.

It can be difficult to find time to do that when I'm taking care of a little one.

But just doing a little bit at a time has the same benefits of doing it for a lot longer period of time (did that even make sense?).

OH! And, I'm really thinkin' that all this doodling is helping me re-connect with my treadmill, too.  Something I never, ever thought would happen (seeing how I was ready to sell it a few weeks ago).   COOLIO!! :)
