{Inspire Me Monday!} Early Morning ME Time

Throughout the 10 weeks that D was gone, I would tell myself (pretty much every night) that I was going to get up an hour earlier than C in the morning so I could get my day started off on the right (calm) foot (and really just get in some awesome mama me time!).

I'd set my alarm, and when the time came to get up, I'd hit the snooze button over and over and sleep until C called LOUDLY (and then pretty much stopped setting the alarm all together and used C and her monitor as my wake up call instead).  I ended up making peace with this because I realized that I needed sleep more than anything.

But, deep down, I really wanted to get up early and have some special "quiet" time all to myself. I've done this in the past and it truly is the most nourishing gift I can give myself.  I crave it BIG TIME!

I did carve out special "me time" in the evenings, but there really is something magical about doing this in the early morning. It just doesn't compare to the evenings.  I think it's because I'm starting my day fresh and energized.  Where as the end of the day, my body is starting to shut down and  I'm ready to just crash in my comfy bed.

Last week I finally did it (with the help of D getting up at 5:45 am and leaving by 6:15 am for work). As soon as he left for the day, I took my shower (a must! If I don't do this, forget about feeling my most beautiful self! This mama learned that a daily shower is required when your spouse is away, too!). Got ready.  Meditated. Jumped on my rebounder.  Did some yoga stretches. Wrote in my gratitude journal. Drank water. And, breathed in the stillness all around me.

My days were ten times better. Well, actually, I could deal with the day ten times calmer! OH YEAH!!

I do find myself clinging to the last shred of my early morning stillness time once I hear baby girl calling me to come get her.  I think to myself, just 5 more minutes???  Ha!  But, I stop and go start my day with her. :)

I guess I could just get up 5 minutes earlier instead, but that won't happen any time soon.  I love my sleep too much (and I'm still trying to catch up on all the sleep I lost during the entire time C was a newborn last year).

So, what about you? Do you have a special time of day that's carved out just for YOUR stillness?  If so, I'd love to hear about it?  If not, then I inspire you to carve out some special early morning stillness time for yourself.  I promise you will love it.  If you can't do it the morning, try another time that fits your schedule.  No matter what time of day, you will still get the nourishment you deserve!   Enjoy! :)
