{Slow Down Mama!} Water Sippin' Check-In!

Since my last post on struggling to add more water to my life, I have to say I'm very happy with how this past week went. The biggest change I've noticed is that my mindset has shifted.  I'm becoming more aware of having water by my side at all times (ah, just like the pre-mommy days!).

I'm definitely finding myself saying "drink more water" throughout the day, too!  Woohoo!

One benefit that has helped me add in more "hot" water is my new teapot. My parents are visiting this week so we can celebrate the Christmas holiday.  They came bearing gifts!  I was thrilled to see that one was the teapot pictured above.

What I love about it is that it's white (my old one was burnt red, and in my opinion, didn't flow well with our new paint color, light peach, in the kitchen) and it has a temperature gauge on it, too.  OH YEAH!!!

I love being able to see how HOT my  hot water is. :)  It's SO very helpful in letting me know when it's time to re-heat the water, too!  AWESOME!

So, it's either the new teapot, the fact that my parents are here and C is a little bit more occupied than usual, OR it just FEELS SO DARN GOOD to be hydrated that I just keep wanting more and more (uh, yes!).

Whichever way, I'm lovin' it! :)

Here's what I've done since last Wednesday:

  • As soon as my water bottle is empty, I stop everything and fill it up again.  I make myself do this! No excuses!
  • I'm staying on top of filling up my water bottle right before I hit the hay each night (I was slacking on this one BIG TIME)  and then I put it by my bed so it's ready for my early morning hydration session.
  • I'm drinking MORE hot water in the morning than in the afternoon.  I'd like to keep this going all day, but I'm OK with being able to get more of it in the mornings for now (baby steps!).
  • Some evenings I was still craving water right after C went to bed.  I honored this and drank away, even though I knew it might wake me up in the middle of the night.  Good news!  I only woke up one night to visit the bathroom.  High five!  YEAH! :)
  • When C drinks her milk, I get my water and CHUG! CHUG! CHUG! CHUG! Oh, how I miss my college days! :)

I love how stopping and taking time to sip water really helps me to slow down and take a breather from the fast movement of the day.  Especially when I sip hot water (or tea!), too!

So body, mind and soul nurturing!

This week I'm going to start using my zen timer on my ipod as a calming reminder to drink my water. I use this as a reminder to stop and stretch sometimes, but I see how this could do wonders with my water drinking, too! Awww yeah!

So how about you? How are your hydration sessions going?  Got any tips to share that can help me and other readers?  Would love to hear them! :)
